The Coconino-De Chelly Aquifer also covers a very large portion of the Colorado Plateau Aquifer System. Including large portions of Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah. The aquifer is comprised of rocks from the Early Permian Age
Recharge
The Coconino- De Chelly Aquifer recharge takes place at seven main locations. Including Uncompahgre Uplift, Paradox Basin, San Rafael Swell, Circles Cliffs Uplift, Defiance Uplift, Zuni Unplift, and Mogollon Slope.
Discharge
The Coconino- De Chelly Aquifer discharges mainly in the Colorado and Green Rivers. However water from the Black Mesa Basin generally travels northwest towards the mouth of the Little Colorado River.
