Structural Geology Associated with Dakota-Glen Canyon Aquifer
The Dakota - Glen Canyon aquifer is composed of several sandstone layers from the Glen Canyon Formation. This formation does not have an area where it starts; however, it stretches, from Eastern Utah and Western Colorado, to Northern Arizona and Northwest New Mexico. The formation is composed of the Kayenta Formation, Moenave Formation, Navajo Sandstone and Wingate Sandstone; unfortunately, the Moenave formation does not occur in Colorado. This formation dates back between the late Triassic to the early Jurassic; which, at the time, most of the Colorado Plateau was an inland sea.
